Chief Investment Officer
Meridith L. Hutchens is the founder of Fortis Analytics, where she serves as Outsourced Chief Investment Officer, providing white-label investment services, portfolio research, and analytics to financial advisors and institutional investors. Drawing on decades of experience, she builds outcome-based, risk-conscious strategies — developing proprietary approaches when the strategies her clients need simply don't exist in the market.
Meridith founded Fortis out of frustration with the lack of transparency that prevails in investment management. Thinking clients deserved better than opaque models whose logic was not clear, she set out to establish investment strategies that were transparent and easy to explain.
Prior to founding Fortis, Meridith was a partner at Polaris Wealth Advisory Group and a wealth advisor at Merrill Lynch. She holds the Series 65 designation and earned her degree from Tulane University.
Meridith lives in Chicago with her husband and two adult children. She is a patron of the arts and a classically trained ballerina.
An RIA firm that is best suited to benefit from our services tends to have the following characteristics:
Spending too much money on investment management fees to third parties
Manages money in-house and is ready to make the switch to full outsourcing
Sees their primary function as relationship managers and financial planners — not research analysts
Believes their greatest competitive advantage is financial planning, tax planning, retirement income strategies, estate planning, or behavioral coaching
Has no full-time portfolio management team or investment committee
Is in growth mode
Places a high value on clear, transparent communication with clients
